The National Environment Agency of Georgia has issued licenses for the use of fir-tree cone seeds by auction in Racha-Lechkhumi, Kvemo Svaneti, Samtskhe-Javakheti and Guria regions.
As the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia announced, fur-tree cone seeds will be exported from Georgia to Europe and the United States of America for the purpose of producing New Year Christmas trees.
The announcement of the auction was preceded by studies carried out by the specialists of the National Environment Agency and the National Wildlife Agency of Georgia in order to determine the quotas. As a result of the said auction, 215 tons of fur-tree cones were sold on 20 lots. The amount to be paid to the state budget was GEL 1,630,056.
Under the condition of the license issued, the fur-tree cone seed quota will be fully utilized and exported, which will contribute to the growth of the country's export capacity and the employment of the local population.
