“Within the framework of the Vintage 2022, up to 20 thousand tons of grapes were processed in Kakheti,” - the National Wine Agency of Georgia reports.
"As of September 6, more than 1,000 winegrowers have handed over grapes to wine enterprises; their income reaches GEL 16 million.
The harvesting process is in active phase in Dedoplistskaro and Sighnaghi municipalities. From 20,000 to 7,000 tons of Rkatshiteli, 9,000 tons of Saperavi, 2,000 tons of Kakhuri green grapes and the rest are various varieties of the grapes processed.
At the moment, more than 200 wine companies and wineries are registered in the vintage coordination headquarters, which will gradually be involved in the process of receiving and processing grapes. About 70 companies have already processed grapes of various volumes.
Under the decision of the Government of Georgia, a subsidy program will be implemented to support the Vintage 2022. The goal of the program is to fully accommodate the grape harvest and maintain the dynamics of stable development of the viticulture-wine industry.
With the support of the subsidy program, up to 25 thousand winegrower farmers will be able to sell their crops. All those companies that will purchase and process, at least, 100 tons of Rkatsiteli or Kakhuri green grapes grown in the Kakheti region during the harvesting process will receive a subsidy and will pay a grower, at least, 90 tetris for 1 kilogram of grapes," - the National Wine Agency said.
