As the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT) reports, the main influence on the formation of the annual inflation was the decrease in the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages.
According to the data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT), the prices in the group decreased by 2.4 percent, reflecting in the annual inflation by -0.82 percentage points. Oil and fat prices decreased by 15.9 percent. Vegetables and garden vegetables became cheaper by 11.3 percent.
"A -9.0 percent decrease in prices was recorded for bread and bakery products. Milk, cheese and eggs became cheaper by -4.1 percent. In addition, the prices of fruits and grapes have increased by 19.7 percent. Meat and meat products went up in price by 6.1 percent. Also, prices in the health care group decreased by 3.3 percent, which reflected in the annual index by -0.32 percentage points.
Prices decreased by -7.7 percent for the subgroup of medical products, equipment and devices. At the same time, prices for outpatient medical services increased by 5.6 percent, and hospital services became more expensive by 3.9 percent.
Prices in the transport group increased by 4.3 percent, which contributed 0.53 percentage points to the overall index. Prices increased for the purchase of vehicles (7.8 percent), the operation of personal vehicles (4.2 percent), and transportation services (2.8 percent);
Miscellaneous goods and services: prices in the group increased by 9.2 percent, which was reflected in the annual index by 0.49 percentage points. Price increases were observed for the following subgroups: financial services (26.6 percent), personal items, not included in the other categories (4.4 percent) and personal hygiene (4.1 percent);
Alcoholic beverages, tobacco: prices in the group increased by 3.5 percent, reflecting in the annual inflation by 0.24 percentage points. Prices have increased for both tobacco products (4.8 percent) and alcoholic beverages (2.8 percent)," the GEOSTAT's report notes.
