"This year was marked by an important and positive event - this is the success of our country on the path of European integration. Our country has received a European perspective," - the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Gharibashvili, said at the Ambassadors' Conference.
"Sadly, we all understand that this political decision was not made. I don't want to say anything derogatory about our friendly states, although we all know very well that we are much, 2 times, 3 times more ahead in terms of implementing reforms compared to Ukraine and Moldova, but it is clear, we understand that this was a political decision. It has been openly stated that Ukraine has been granted candidate status because the country is at war and Moldova is on the verge of war. We understand this motivation well, but we only wish success to our friendly states - Moldova and Ukraine. We want peace and prosperity in these countries.
After defining 12 priorities, the same day the ruling party presented a very clear road map to the public, including our partners. Mr. Chairman of the Parliament, the whole team was involved in this process and we thoroughly, correctly and effectively implemented the mentioned recommendations. As you know, working groups were created in the Parliament. Unfortunately, I would like to point out that the representatives of the opposition parties were not fully involved in this process, although some of their representatives took part. I want to thank everyone, because it was a really laborious task - we thoroughly fulfilled all the conditions that were set for us," said Gharibashvili.
The head of the Government also stated that "processes are still ongoing". Gharibashvili noted that certain draft laws have been sent to the Venice Commission and the government is waiting for conclusions, after which it will adapt accordingly.
Additionally, the Prime Minister spoke about the economic growth of Georgia and noted that, like last year, the country is completing the current year with a double-digit economic growth.
