“On May 26, for the first time in history, cargo arrived in Georgia through a pilot freight service. This is important for Georgian importers and those entrepreneurs who have the key economic ties with China,” - the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Guram Guramishvili, said.

According to him, the country is becoming an important player in the global supply chain.

"Regarding this process in general, last year the Prime Minister of our country paid a visit to China, where it was decided to exchange bilateral and multiple permits between the two countries, and the results did not delay. This year, we can import into and send goods directly from Georgia along the middle corridor. In addition to positioning Georgia as a global player in the global supply chain, logistics services will also be developed in the country. The main thing is our readiness, that our infrastructure is developing. Many global transport projects are being implemented in the country, I would mention the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project, as well as the railway modernization project; the necessary procedures for the construction of Anaklia port have already entered an active phase, therefore, the country is already becoming an important player in the global supply chain in the form of a middle corridor", - Guramishvili stated.
