Armenian parliament speaker Alen Simonyan, who is paying an official visit to Georgia, said development of “good neighbourly” relations with Georgia was one of the priorities of his country's foreign policy.
While meeting with his Georgian counterpart Shalva Papuashvili, Alen Simonyan stressed Armenia was “very interested” in establishing strategic relations between the two states.
"Armenian-Georgian historical relations are based on common values, compounded by the steps towards the future of our countries, which we are taking in the direction of democracy”, Simonyan said.
Alen Simonyan remarked that he had discussed ties in education, culture, transport and issues related to the countries’ involvement in international infrastructures with his Georgian counterpart.
He also underscrored the role of Georgia and Armenia in establishing peace in the South Caucasus region.
