
Georgia's foreign exchange reserves reached another record level.
According to the data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT), as of March 31, 2023, total reserves amounted to $5.003 billion. This is $283.6 million more compared to February of this year. Compared to the same period of the previous year, the reserves increased by $973.1 million. In particular, in March 2022, the volume of foreign exchange reserves was $4,030 billion, and by February 2023, it was $4,720 billion.
As for the structure of reserves, foreign exchange reserves converted into foreign currency represent the main reserve of the National Bank and this part amounts to 4.525 billion US dollars. Its structure includes funds placed in securities - $3.198 billion and currency kept in the accounts of foreign banks and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) - $1.327 billion.
The National Bank does not keep funds in the form of gold.
