
“A pilot project on the transportation of goods in containers from the Chinese city of Kashgar to Europe via the Georgian Railway has been developed,” - Trend Agency reports based on ADY Container, a subsidiary of Azerbaijan Railways.
The company stated that "a trial version of the digital platform has already been prepared, which will increase the efficiency of cargo transportation along the corridor and optimize operations." The platform developed by UNISER, a company specialized in this field, is being implemented in test mode."
The representatives of six states discussed the pilot project in Baku, where a meeting of the railway operators of the countries participating in the international multimodal route of the Asia-Pacific region was held. According to the project, cargo from the Chinese city of Kashgar will be delivered to Europe via the Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey railway.
At the meeting, the Deputy Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways Iqbal Huseynov spoke about the joint cooperation of the railway departments of the participating countries in order to increase the attractiveness of the route.
In addition, a discussion was held at the meeting on the creation of a special website on which information about the mentioned route will be posted. The parties also emphasized the need to create a consortium with joint participation, which will improve the efficiency of the route. The discussion will continue in this direction.
The transport route of the Asia-Pacific region, that is, China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey-Europe, was created in 2019 with the participation of Azerbaijan Railways and the state railway structures of the relevant countries.
