The Georgian Orthodox Church observes the Nativity of Christ on January 7, a celebration traditionally marked by the Alilo Christmas procession.

This year, the procession commenced at First Republic Square and concluded at the Holy Trinity Cathedral (Sameba). Along the route, participants collected gifts and confections, which are intended for distribution to beneficiaries in orphanages, senior care facilities, and penitentiaries.

The Alilo procession, conducted with the blessing of His Holiness Ilia II, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, has been an annual tradition since its establishment in 2000.
