
The export volume of agro-food products from Georgia to the European Union has decreased, while the import volume has increased - this is noted in the 2022 report of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia.
According to the report, in 2022, agro-food products worth 173 million US dollars were exported from Georgia to the EU countries, which is 4% (7 million US dollars) less than the figure of 2021. In 2022, the share of the EU countries in the total export of agro-food products was 14%. Mainly exported products are: nuts in primary and processed form (49%), wine (18%), alcoholic beverages (14%), mineral and fresh waters (5%).
Additionally, in 2022, agro-food products worth 404 million US dollars were imported to Georgia from the EU countries, which is 37% (109 million US dollars) higher than the figure of the previous year. The share of the EU countries in the total import of agro-food products is 22%. Mainly imported products are: food additives (7%), animal feed (6%), poultry meat (6%), alcoholic beverages (6%) and sugar (5%).
As for the overall indicator, in 2022, the export of agro-food products from Georgia increased by 11% compared to the previous year and amounted to 1,262 billion GEL. According to the report of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, the following are mainly exported: wine (20%), alcoholic beverages (12%), mineral and fresh waters (9%), nut-fruits (mainly nuts) (8%) and non-alcoholic carbonated beverages (7%). It should be noted that last year agro-food products were exported to 96 countries.
