Within the framework of their visit to the United States of America, the Minister of Finance of Georgia Lasha Khutsishvili and Acting President of the National Bank of Georgia Natia Turnava met with the Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Bo Li.
The parties reviewed the macroeconomic/fiscal parameters and monetary policy issues of the country for the current year and the medium-term period.
As mentioned above, given the high economic growth and strict fiscal policy of the past years, the country's fiscal parameters have returned to a safe level. It is important that the economic growth forecast of the country by the fund has been corrected in the direction of growth and is currently expected within 5.7%.
The conversation touched on the progress of structural reforms and the importance of the IMF support in this direction.
The meeting was attended by the First Deputy Minister of Finance Giorgi Kakauridze, Deputy Ministers Ekaterine Guntsadze and Mirza Gelashvili from the Ministry of Finance.
