According to preliminary estimates, the Georgian economy grew by 7.2% in the second quarter of 2022, while in the first quarter, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, real gross domestic product increased by 14.9%, which implies a 20.3%-increase compared to the first quarter of 2019.
According to the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, in the first quarter of 2022, the following industries made a significant contribution to the economic growth:
Accommodation and food supply-related activities: 70.3%;
Electricity and gas supply: 54.7%;
Arts, entertainment and recreation: 47.6%;
Transport and warehousing: 29.4%;
Healthcare: 18.8%;
Education: 18.2%;
Manufacturing industry: 13.2%;
Wholesale and retail trade; car and motorcycle repair: 8.9%;
Real estate-related activities: 7.4%.
As explained by the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, the following sectors made a significant contribution to the decline in the economic activity:
Activities of households as employers: -7.0%.
