A strategic decision should be made regarding granting candidate status for EU membership to Georgia and Georgia should not be refused a second time, President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili said at a meeting with American senators, Jeanne Shaheen and Dick Durbin.
As the presidential administration reports, the President discussed the war in Ukraine and the security environment created in the Black Sea region, along with Georgia's European integration, at a meeting with American senators.
As the American senators stated at the meeting held in the Orbeliani palace, they appreciate the role and position of the Georgian President in the direction of European integration, to which the President noted that she expresses the will of the Georgian people regarding the country's European integration. The President said the Georgian people deserve the status of a candidate for the European Union, because they have been serving European values for 30 years.
It was noted that the opening of the second front in Georgia is only in Russia’s interest, which carried out aggression against Georgia not only in August 2008, but has been carrying it out for the second century.
