In connection with the reception of the one-millionth passenger at the Kutaisi International Airport, the final part of the event was held on the airport terrace, which was attended by representatives of the central and local authorities, tourism and aviation sectors, and veteran employees of the Kutaisi Airport. Speaking at the event, General Director of the United Airports of Georgia, Irakli Karkashadze, noted that September 24 was a historic event in the nearly 70-year history of the airport. For the first time, the Kutaisi airport hosted its one-millionth passenger in a year.
"Today's event is dedicated to this great history, past and future. Today, a new chapter in the history of this airport begins with the one-millionth passenger - this is the number of passengers we have already served this year and we have set a goal to never fall short of this number," said Karkashadze.
The Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Mariam Kvrivishvili, and other officials were present to greet the millionth passenger. The traveler, identified as Peter Goetzinger from Germany, mentioned that he decided to visit Georgia after reading numerous articles about the country.
As part of the celebration, Goetzinger was presented with a specially branded suitcase filled with gifts, including a travel voucher to explore any part of Georgia, Georgian-made products, and a Wizz Air airline voucher for travel to any destination.
