Within this framework, a grant agreement was signed between the Agency of Protected Areas of Georgia and Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).
The project "Save the Nature-Georgia" aims to develop new management plans for the next 2 years and update the existing ones. The project will include:
- Development of a new management plan for four protected areas, including the administrations of the Martvili and Okatse Natural Monuments, the Batsara-Babaneuri Protected Areas, the Mariamjvari State Reserve and the Erusheti National Park;
- Update of the management plan for two protected areas, including the administration of the Ajameti Reserve and the Imereti Caves Protected Areas;
- Development of a new water resources management plan for two protected areas, including the Javakheti Protected Areas and the Kolkheti National Park;
- Development of a master plan for 17 management plans.
The activities carried out within the framework of the SIDA project will, on the one hand, contribute to the proper management of the resources in the protected areas, including the introduction of modern methods of using natural resources, and, on the other hand, will significantly improve the social situation of the population living in the protected areas. The cost of the project is 278,000 euros," - the statement reads.
