During his speech in the Parliament of Georgia, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Levan Davitashvili said that 86% of the Georgian section of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway is already completed.
"We are implementing important projects in the direction of improving the competitiveness of railways. Among them, the railway modernization project is worth mentioning, which has been actively underway this year and should be completed next year. This project will make the railway even more competitive. This also includes the new railway line in the form of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars, 86% of the project of which has already been completed," said Levan Davitashvili.
To be informed, the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway has been operating in test mode for several years and periodically carries trains from Asia to Europe. However, the railway construction is proceeding at a slower pace than planned. According to the company's report, 85% of the project was completed in late 2021, while the Economy Minister of Georgia said its completion level had increased to 86%. At this rate, it will take a long time to actually operate the railway.
