
In the first quarter of 2022, the number of international visits to Adjara amounted to 173,000, which is 69% of the first quarter of 2019. It is worth noting that the same indicator for Tbilisi is 46%, which means that tourism recovery rate in Adjara is returning to the indicators of 2019 at a faster pace than in Tbilisi.
In the first quarter of 2022, 368,000 local visits were made to Adjara, which is 95% of the same period of 2019. In addition, the number of visits to the Batumi Airport in January-June will be only 9% less than the 2019 figure. It should be noted that almost half of the visits, 48%, were made by Jews.
Other indicators of the tourism sector, such as occupancy and average daily price in branded hotels, point to the recovery. In June, the occupancy was 72%, which is 10 pp lower than the occupancy of 2019. The average daily price for the same period is $130 - 27% more than the price for the same period in 2019.
