“35.5% of Russian citizens living in Georgia want to stay for more than one year,” - the PMCG study notes.
In the 1st quarter of 2023, the largest number of visitors came to Georgia from Russia. In particular, 256,787 visits were made from Russia to Georgia, which exceeds the pre-pandemic rate by 1.1%. Russia is followed by Turkey and Armenia.
"By countries, in Q1 2023, the highest revenue from Russian travelers amounted to USD 266.4 million, which is 29% more than in 2019.
It should be noted that according to the data of the National Bank of Georgia, as of March 31, 2023, 35.5% of Russian citizens in Georgia, 23.7% of Ukrainian citizens, and 44% of Belarusian citizens are assessed as staying or wishing to stay in Georgia for more than 1 year.
Accordingly, the expenses incurred by them are not included in the revenue received from international travel," PMCG said.
