The State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG) reported that Aleksi Mamulia and Ivane Japiashvili, who had been illegally detained by Russian occupation forces near the village of Kvemo Nikozi in Gori municipality, have been released and are now in territory controlled by the central Georgian government.
The SSSG highlighted that both the “hotline” operated by the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM) in Georgia and all available resources of the central government were actively utilized in securing the release of Mamulia and Japiashvili.
The statement further emphasized that the occupying forces are responsible for all harmful actions carried out in Georgia’s occupied regions and along the occupation line. The central government, in collaboration with international partners, continues to work diligently to secure the release of all Georgian citizens held in illegal detention in occupied territories.
