State Minister Tea Akhvlediani attended the civil funeral for individuals repatriated from occupied Abkhazia who went missing during the armed conflicts of the 1990s, according to a statement from the State Minister’s Office.
Thanks to the joint efforts of the State Minister’s Office and the International Committee of the Red Cross, coordinated through a mechanism involving both Georgian and Abkhaz participants, six missing individuals—five military personnel and one civilian—have been identified and returned to their families.
The civil funeral, which took place at Trinity Cathedral over two days, honors those who lost their lives in the conflicts. Two fallen soldiers will be laid to rest at Digomi Brothers Cemetery, while the others will be buried with military honors at locations chosen by their families.
