
State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality of Georgia, Tea Akhvlediani, held meetings with Christina Marty Lang, Swiss Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Russian Federation, and Heidi Grau, Swiss Ambassador to Georgia.
During the discussions, the State Minister expressed deep appreciation for Switzerland’s consistent support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders. She also acknowledged Switzerland’s active involvement in promoting a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
The meetings focused on the severe humanitarian and human rights consequences of the ongoing illegal occupation of Georgia’s Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions. These include systematic violations of fundamental rights and efforts to further isolate the occupied territories.
Minister Akhvlediani stressed the need for a strong and sustained international response, highlighting the importance of global engagement in defending the rights of people affected by the conflict.
She also provided an update on Georgia’s reconciliation and engagement policies, including initiatives aimed at improving socio-economic conditions and fostering trust and dialogue between conflict-divided communities based on shared needs and interests.
All parties reaffirmed their commitment to continued close cooperation in support of peacebuilding and reconciliation efforts in Georgia.
