The State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG) has reported the unlawful detention of a Georgian citizen by Russian occupation forces near the village of Zemo Khviti in the Gori Municipality, close to the occupied Tskhinvali region.

Upon learning of the incident, the SSSG activated the EU Monitoring Mission’s “hotline” and informed the Co-Chairs of the Geneva International Discussions and other international partners.

“All available mechanisms have been mobilised to secure the swift release of the detained Georgian citizen,” the SSSG stated, adding that the occupying forces bear full responsibility for the illegal action.
