,,During his visit to Abu Dhabi, Georgia’s Prime Minister is expected to oversee the signing of a major agreement with one of the world’s leading development groups, which is projected to bring several billion dollars in investments to Georgia,'' according to Levan Davitashvili, Georgia’s First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development.
Davitashvili emphasized the strong political and economic ties between Georgia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), noting that Georgia was among the first countries in the region to sign the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement with the UAE.
“We maintain trade relations under a free trade regime, which provides a robust legal foundation for enhancing our economic collaboration. As part of this visit, a transformative agreement will be signed, bringing multi-billion-dollar investments into Georgia. This milestone reinforces Georgia’s reputation as a reliable and trustworthy investment partner, further propelling the growth trajectory of our economy. Additionally, we will engage in high-level discussions across a range of political and economic areas,” Davitashvili stated.
He further highlighted the UAE’s continued investments in Georgia, particularly through the Abu Dhabi Ports Group, a prominent state-owned entity. This group is nearing completion of a dry port in Tbilisi, an essential infrastructure project that is expected to open later this year following years of collaborative efforts.
Meetings with UAE business leaders will focus on exploring additional opportunities for expanding their presence in Georgia, particularly in logistics and transport. Cooperation also extends to the energy sector, with Masdar actively engaged in renewable energy projects.
“We are finalizing agreements with Masdar after extensive preparatory work, and we are developing a joint project with the Energy Development Fund,” Davitashvili added.
The Minister expressed optimism about the potential for further deepening trade and economic relations with the UAE through these significant initiatives.
