Within the frames of an official visit to the United States, the Georgian Prosecutor’s Office delegation met with the U.S. Justice and State Department representatives.
The meeting focused on finalizing an agreement on mutual legal assistance in criminal cases between Georgia and the United States.
The sides initialed the agreement during an official ceremony after the negotiations, paving the way for its eventual signing and ratification.
Irakli Shotadze, the Prosecutor General of Georgia and Bruce Swartz, the U.S. Deputy Attorney General and Secretary of International Relations, initialed the agreement.
Irakli Shotadze emphasized the significance of these international instruments, which were actively developed with the involvement of the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia. The agreement is expected to establish a crucial legal framework, enabling competent authorities from both states to effectively investigate crimes and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.
