Tea Akhvlediani, the Georgian State Minister for Reconciliation and Civil Equality, met with Levan Mgaloblishvili, the Chair of the Government of the Russian-occupied region of Abkhazia, along with members of the regional cabinet, to discuss the priorities of the Georgian Government’s reconciliation and engagement policy.

According to the Ministry, the discussion also encompassed the Government’s peace initiative, titled A Step to a Better Future, which aims to enhance the humanitarian and socio-economic conditions of individuals residing in the Russian-occupied regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia). The meeting further addressed the progress made in the implementation of this initiative, as well as its future objectives.

The program is designed to "restore trust among members of society divided by political boundaries" and to foster cooperation based on shared interests, as stated by the Ministry.
