“About Georgia, things are not on a good track. Europe can do more. One thing that Estonia has proposed is the start of the process of taking away visa liberation,” stated the Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna.
Speaking ahead of an EU Foreign Ministers’ meeting, Tsahkna said: “About Georgia, things are not on a good track. Europe can do more. One thing that Estonia has proposed is the start of the process of taking away visa liberation. So I’m not saying that we’re just taking it away tomorrow, but we need to start this process to give the very straight and clear message that these authorities who are now leading Georgia. They are lying to their own people. They need to change the course.”
When asked about the ongoing hunger strike by Mzia Amaglobeli, now in its fifteenth day, the recent attack on a former Prime Minister, and the sustained 60-day protests in Georgia, Tsahkna emphasized:
“Estonia has been very supportive for Georgian people and we know everything that you explained right now that it is happening there. So we don’t, we cannot believe what the Georgian authorities are saying. We actually witness exactly what is happening in real life. So I do hope that we will find ways to make more decisions about Georgia.”
