Zero emission, zero noise and energy efficiency – electric cars are slowly taking over the world automotive market. Leading car manufacturers are already announcing their plans to fully switch to electric car production, and Georgia is no exception in this regard. Recently, the Chinese company Leapmotor, a manufacturer of new generation electric vehicles, entered our country, the exclusive import of which belongs to Gau Energy Group, a subsidiary of Badagoni wine company, while the official representative in Georgia is Leapmotor Georgia.

The partnership between the Chinese auto giant and Georgia's largest wine company Badagoni is a big leap in the Georgian car market for electric cars. Electric cars Leapmotor C11 and Leapmotor T03 can be seen in the Tbilisi Gallery.

The purchase of a share of the Chinese car manufacturer - LeapMotor by Stellantis, one of the largest auto giants in the automobile market, did not escape the attention of the world media - 1.5 billion euros to acquire approximately 20% of Leapmotor would make Stellantis the car manufacturer’s significant shareholder. Global carmaker Stellantis announced on October 25 that it would acquire a 20% stake from the Chinese electric car maker Leapmotor, making Leapmotor the newest European brand, while, through this agreement, the Chinese company will establish itself in the world's highly competitive market.

Jeep and Ram and Leapmotor producer said in a joint statement that they had formed a strategic partnership and joint venture aimed at expanding sales of the Chinese electric vehicles both inside and outside of China.
“The partnership between the two auto giants is meant to further increase Leapmotor's sales in China and also exploit the European market so that Leapmotor can dominate the segment in the global electric vehicle market. Using the established global commercial representation of Stellantis will accelerate the sales of the Leapmotor brand worldwide, and Georgia is already considered among these countries.

Who is Stellantis?

Stellantis is one of the world's leading car manufacturers and mobility providers. In the world automobile market, this strong player represents the Italian-American FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) and the French Groupe PSA (Peugeot Société Anonyme) alliance, and the concern formed as a result of the merger of these two companies was named Stellantis, which became the fourth largest car manufacturer worldwide. The corporation is registered in the Netherlands as an LLC and owns 14 brands.

Who is Leapmotor?
Leapmotor was founded in December 2015 and is based in Hangzhou, China. In June 2019, the first product entered the Chinese market - Leapmotor S01 electric 2-door coupe. The prototype was shown at the 2017 Guangzhou Auto Show. The company then raised $380 million in capital and began building the plant. The S01 was originally revealed as the LP-S01 coupe in early 2018. The first deliveries of the S01 took place in June 2019. In November 2020, Leapmotor officially launched its third production electric vehicle, the Leapmotor C11 electric crossover, based on the 2019 C-More concept. C11 is equipped with two electric motors, which have a total power of 544 Hp. (536 Hp/400 kW) and a motor torque of 720 Nm (531 lb-ft). The Leapmotor C11 has a driving range of approximately 600 km (404 miles).

As for the Leapmotor T03, the T03 model is equipped with many driver-assistance functions that make driving comfortable and safe. They are controlled by the main digital screen installed in the cabin. The T03 has a high strength steel body for complete safety.

Leveraging the strengths of both companies, Stellantis and Leapmotor will form a strategic global relationship aimed at creating a highly competitive and efficient electric vehicle powerhouse in China and around the world. It will be represented in Georgia in the form of Leapmotor Georgia, a subsidiary of Badagoni wine company.
