The 142nd meeting of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism is being held in Ergneti to address various incidents along the dividing line, including illegal borderization and the detention of Georgian citizens.
Since the last meeting, seven Georgian citizens have been illegally detained by the occupying regime, with three already released. Furthermore, six instances of illegal borderization have been reported in the Kareli and Gori municipalities, where Russian military forces have erected iron posts, surveillance cameras, and barbed wire.
In addition to security issues, the meeting will also focus on humanitarian concerns related to these incidents.
Irakli Antadze, Deputy Director of the Analytical Department of the State Security Service, emphasized that the meeting will discuss all incidents that have occurred during the reporting period. He stated, “Since the previous meeting, four cases of illegal detention have occurred, involving seven Georgian citizens, three of whom have been released. Illegal construction activities have been observed in four areas near the Kareli and Gori municipalities. Negotiations are ongoing in all international formats to ensure the release of those detained.”
